The study, in plain terms

The competition

XPRIZE Healthspan is a $101M global, multi-year competition to develop therapies that restore muscle, cognitive and immune function — by a minimum of 10 years, with a goal of 20.

The team

ASU Team Healthspan is one of only 100 teams worldwide — out of 765 — selected as semifinalists, running an age-reversal study toward the prize.

The training arm

ASU describes the study’s exercise arm as “AI-driven, adaptive resistance training, designed to maximize functional gains in minimal time.”

ARX machines are used in that training arm. Adaptive resistance is the category ARX pioneered as Adaptive Resistance Exercise™ — and has built for 15 years.

The design

An eight-week clinical pilot with 20 participants (adults 55+), with a 200-participant, full-year trial on the horizon for teams that advance. The biomarkers are the ones strength training moves: grip strength, gait speed, VO₂ max, immune and cognitive function.
