The exercise arm of the ASU Team Healthspan entry in the XPRIZE Healthspan competition is built on adaptive resistance training, and ARX machines are used in that arm. Here is the research story.
XPRIZE Healthspan is a $101M global, multi-year competition to develop therapies that restore muscle, cognitive and immune function — by a minimum of 10 years, with a goal of 20.
ASU Team Healthspan is one of only 100 teams worldwide — out of 765 — selected as semifinalists, running an age-reversal study toward the prize.
ASU describes the study’s exercise arm as “AI-driven, adaptive resistance training, designed to maximize functional gains in minimal time.”
ARX machines are used in that training arm. Adaptive resistance is the category ARX pioneered as Adaptive Resistance Exercise™ — and has built for 15 years.
An eight-week clinical pilot with 20 participants (adults 55+), with a 200-participant, full-year trial on the horizon for teams that advance. The biomarkers are the ones strength training moves: grip strength, gait speed, VO₂ max, immune and cognitive function.
Here’s the exciting part: scientists racing to reverse biological aging — for a $101M prize — chose adaptive resistance to rebuild strength in older adults. The category ARX pioneered and has spent 15 years perfecting. That’s how revolutionary this technology really is.
Leading longevity research is being built on the category of equipment you can put on your floor. Protocol-driven strength — measured, time-efficient, safe for 55+ members — is the fastest-growing demand in fitness.
ARX for business →The biomarkers this study tracks — strength, VO₂ max, function — are the same ones you can train at home in two 15-minute sessions a week.
ARX for longevity →Yes. The training arm of the ASU Team Healthspan study runs on adaptive resistance training, and ARX machines are used in that arm.
Not yet — the study is currently underway. Once the research results are published to the public, we’ll have them listed here.
Motorized, computer-controlled resistance that matches your exact force on every inch of every rep — no weights, no momentum, measured precisely. How it works →
